# Troubleshooting

Symptoms and fixes: startup, mobs, menus, icons, placeholders, commands, data and performance.

Find your symptom, try the fix, and if it is still wrong read the console. **Most problems leave a line in the console** with a file name.

### Startup

| Symptom | Cause and fix |
| ---------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| ClickEm does not enable | **MythicMobs is missing** or failed. ClickEm cannot start without it. Check for a licence message too. |
| Licence message | Wrong or missing `license.key`, or no internet at startup. See [Licensing](/lethium-docs/getting-started/licensing-and-languages.md). |
| `ClickEm is still starting up` when typing a command | Wait a few seconds. Commands work only after startup finishes. |
| A YAML error naming a file and line | A tab, a missing quote, or bad indentation. Open that file at that line. See [Configuration basics](/lethium-docs/configuration.md). |
| `NoClassDefFoundError` | A plugin ClickEm relies on is missing or the wrong version. |
| A module shows `reload-module-failed` | That module's file is broken. Run `/clickem module reload <id>` after fixing it. |
| `Unknown mechanic clickemsummon` at boot | Normal once: ClickEm runs `/mm reload` on the first tick. If bosses still lack heal pillars, run `/mm reload` by hand. |

### Mobs and zones

| Symptom | Cause and fix |
| --------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| No mobs in the arena | MythicMobs did not load the mob files. Run `/mm reload` and `/spawners`. Check the spawner module is enabled and the worlds are named `World1` to `World5`. |
| Mobs spawn but pay nothing | The mob is not in the zone's `allowed-mobs`, or has no `rewards:` entry. |
| A zone will not let the player in | They have not unlocked it. `/zones` shows what is missing. Staff: `clickem.zones.bypass`. |
| A mob never dies or is invisible | Wrong MythicMobs `Type` or a missing model. Look at `/mm mobs list`. |
| Boss does not hit players | Arena region not found. See [Spawners and mobs](/lethium-docs/gameplay/spawners-and-mobs.md) (`boss-roaming.debug`). |
| Two copies of a boss | A restart happened inside `startup-grace-seconds`. Raise it. |
| Kills do not count for quests | The kill share was below `min-share-percent`, or the mob is not a ClickEm mob. |
| Vanilla mobs spawn | Add the world to MobDisabler's `DisabledWorlds`. |

### Menus, icons and text

| Symptom | Cause and fix |
| -------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Icons are `BARRIER` blocks or squares | The resource pack did not load or is stale. `/iazip`, check the URL, rejoin. See [ItemsAdder](/lethium-docs/server-setup/itemsadder.md). |
| Tooltip frames show Chinese characters | No pack, or a Bedrock player. The frame glyphs are pack characters. |
| Menu titles are plain text | Pack missing, or an old `lang` file. |
| A menu button is missing | Its module is disabled, or its slot is outside the layout. |
| Text shows `clickem.something.name` | The language key is missing from your `lang/en_us.yml`. Add it, or see [Updating](/lethium-docs/getting-started/updating.md). |
| Raw `<gradient>` tags show | The tag is malformed or placed in a place that reads plain text. |
| My edit has no effect | You forgot to reload, edited the wrong copy, or the game reads the language key, not the text you changed. See [Configuration basics](/lethium-docs/configuration.md). |

### Placeholders

| Symptom | Cause and fix |
| ----------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `%clickem_...%` shows as text | PlaceholderAPI missing, or `integrations.placeholderapi.enabled` is false. |
| Empty value | The module is off, or it does not apply (for example no 3rd pet). |
| TAB shows a stale value | TAB refreshes on its own interval. See [TAB](/lethium-docs/server-setup/tab.md). |
| A HUD number is always `0` | The placeholder name is wrong. Test `/papi parse me <placeholder>`. |

### Commands that exist in two plugins

Bukkit allows only one plugin to own a command name. The other is reachable as `plugin:command`.

ClickEm **forces** these names to itself after startup and logs `Forced /x to ClickEm's /y`: `/echo`, `/warp`, `/warps`, `/zones`, `/gradient`, `/ranks`, `/perks`, `/guide`, `/help`, `/fly`.

Names used by **both ClickEm and another plugin** that are **not forced** (so the plugin that registers last wins):

| Command | Other plugin |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------- |
| `/crates` | ExcellentCrates |
| `/afk` | EssentialsX |
| `/spawn`, `/fly`, `/balance`, `/bal` | EssentialsX |
| `/msg`, `/reply`, `/r`, `/msgtoggle`, `/invsee`, `/vanish`, `/gamemode`, `/echest` | LethiumBans and EssentialsX |
| `/kick`, `/ban`, `/mute`, `/warn` | LethiumBans and EssentialsX |

How to check which plugin owns a name: type the command, or use `/help <command>`. To call one explicitly, prefix it: `/clickemcore:crates` or `/excellentcrates:crates`.

{% hint style="warning" %}
ClickEm's own reward commands (quests, Season Pass, AFK pool, Gems Shop) run **`crates key give ...`**. That must reach ExcellentCrates. If `/crates` in your server teleports you to the crates area instead, ExcellentCrates lost the name. Either run the ClickEm crates teleport under another command, or change the ExcellentCrates command name in its `config.yml`, and test a key reward.
{% endhint %}

If you do not want a clash, **remove the permission** for the other plugin's command from players, or disable that command in its own plugin.

### Players and data

| Symptom | Cause and fix |
| --------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| A player was kicked with "data could not be loaded" | Their saved data failed to load (database or corrupt row). Their data is untouched. Fix the cause and they can rejoin. |
| Kicked with "data in use on another server" (MySQL) | Their lease is on another server. Wait `lock-wait-seconds`, or fix a stuck server. See [Storage](/lethium-docs/configuration/storage.md). |
| A player lost progress after a restart | Check `autosave-seconds` and that the server shut down cleanly. Restore the database backup. |
| Player cannot use `/language` tab completion | Add it to EasyCommandBlocker's list. |
| A player is stuck in a tutorial | `/stoptutorial`. |
| A player is stuck with the human check | `/verify`, or staff `/ceadmin antiafk resetstrikes <player>`. |

### Combat and rewards

| Symptom | Cause and fix |
| ----------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Damage looks tiny | Base damage is 1.0 and Power multiplies it. Check the player's `%clickem_stat_damage%`. |
| Auto-attack stops | `idle-timeout-seconds` (click again), `max-range`, or the target cap. |
| Fury shows one message | Alerts are throttled. Turn on `combat.fury.debug` to see the meter. |
| A player's stat is stuck | `limit-stats` caps it. |
| Coins reward looks too big or small | Reward scaling. See [Reward scaling](/lethium-docs/configuration/reward-scaling.md). |
| Crate rewards do not arrive | The console command failed. Check the console at the moment of opening. |

### Bedrock

See [Bedrock players](/lethium-docs/server-setup/bedrock.md): open the UDP port, and check the pack delivery.

### Performance

| Symptom | Fix |
| --------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Lag spikes after a restart | `spawners.yml` `max-spawns-per-tick-global` and `startup-grace-seconds`. |
| Constant lag with many players | Raise `spawners.yml` `tick-interval-ticks`. Lower `view-distance`. Check `/tps` and `/spark` if you have it. |
| Lag from holograms | Fewer or smaller FancyHolograms, raise `update_text_interval`. |
| Lag when many placeholders update | Raise TAB `placeholder-refresh-intervals`. |
| Huge player database | Use MySQL instead of YAML. |

### Still stuck?

1. Turn on the relevant debug option (`combat.fury.debug`, `boss-roaming.debug`, `combat.boss-hit-debug`). Turn it off again afterwards.
2. Reproduce the problem and copy the console lines around it.
3. Contact support with the ClickEm version (`/version ClickEmCore`), your server build (`/version`), and those lines. **Remove your licence key** from anything you send.

# Agent Instructions
This documentation is published with GitBook. GitBook is the documentation platform designed so that both humans and AI agents can read, navigate, and reason over technical content effectively. Learn more at gitbook.com.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://lethium.gitbook.io/lethium-docs/troubleshooting.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
