# Chat: LPC and DeathControl

Chat format, hover cards, chat tags like \[item], cooldowns (LPC) and death messages (DeathControl).

### LPC: the chat format

File: `plugins/LPC/config.yml`. Apply with a server restart (or the plugin's reload command if it offers one).

The chat line is:

```
[star <clan tag>] <rank badge> <name> [Power <power>] » <message>
```

```yaml
chat-format: "&8[&f%img_star_emoji% &#FFCC00%clickem_clan_tag%&8] %vault_prefix%{name} &8[&f%img_power% &a%clickem_stat_damage_rounded%&8] &7» {message}"
```

| Part                            | From                                                     |
| ------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------- |
| `%clickem_clan_tag%`            | The player's [clan](/lethium-docs/gameplay/clans.md) tag |
| `%vault_prefix%` | The rank **badge** from LuckPerms through Vault |
| `{name}`                        | The player's name                                        |
| `%clickem_stat_damage_rounded%` | Power                                                    |
| `{message}`                     | What they typed                                          |

To change the format, edit `chat-format`. `group-formats:` lets you give a group its own format.

#### Hover card and click

Hovering a name shows a profile card with Power, Gems, Gold, Essence, Rebirths, Profile Level, playtime and clan. **Clicking a name runs `/profile <name>`** (`name-click-command`). Players with the permission `chat.hover.supporter` see a card with the "Supporter" subtitle. Edit `name-hover.default` and `name-hover.permissions`.

#### Chat tags

Players can type these in a message to show something to everyone:

| Type                   | Shows                  |
| ---------------------- | ---------------------- |
| `[i]`, `[item]`        | The item in their hand |
| `[inv]`, `[inventory]` | Their inventory        |
| `[ec]`, `[enderchest]` | Their ender chest      |
| `[money]`              | Their Vault balance    |
| `[gems]`               | Their Gems             |

Each has `enabled`, `triggers`, `display`, and a `cooldown` (off by default, bypass permission `lpc.tags.<name>.cooldown.bypass`).

{% hint style="warning" %}
**`[gems]` needs fixing.** It uses `%playerpoints_points%`, which belongs to the PlayerPoints plugin, and PlayerPoints is not installed. Change `chat-tags.gems.display` to `"&b♦ &f%clickem_balance_gems%"`. `[money]` uses `%vault_eco_balance%`, which shows ClickEm Coins through Vault.
{% endhint %}

#### Anti-spam

| Setting                  | Default                                                              |
| ------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `cooldown.chat.delay`    | 2.1 seconds between messages (bypass `lpc.cooldown.chat.bypass`)     |
| `cooldown.command.delay` | 0.75 seconds between commands (bypass `lpc.cooldown.command.bypass`) |
| `clear-chat-message`     | Message after a staff member clears chat                             |

### DeathControl: death messages

File: `plugins/DeathControl/config.yml`. Reload with its reload command or a restart.

It **replaces vanilla death messages** with styled ones (`🗡 <player> was slain by <killer>`), and **blanks the join, leave and advancement messages** (`join_message: ""`, and so on) to keep chat clean. Players can toggle seeing death messages.

Each cause has its own entry under `messages:` using MiniMessage and the tags `<player>`, `<killer>`, `<weapon>`:

```yaml
messages:
  fall:
    "<#ff780c>↓ <player></#ff780c> <white>hit the ground too hard.</white>"
```

To turn a cause off, set it to `""`.

{% hint style="info" %}
Two entries have a typo: `wither` reads `withe#ff1d54 away` and another reads `discove#ff1d54`. Fix them to `withered away` with the closing tag written correctly.
{% endhint %}

Only bosses damage players in ClickEm, so most deaths will be boss related. The rest are falls, voids and lava outside the arenas.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://lethium.gitbook.io/lethium-docs/server-setup/chat.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
