# Add a pet

Create a new pet, put it into an egg, and link it into fusion.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Create the file

Copy an existing pet of the same rarity from `plugins/ClickEmCore/modules/pets/` and name it with the new id, for example `MyPet_1.yml`. The **file name is the id**. Keep ids free of spaces.

```yaml
display-name: "clickem.pets.MyPet_1.name"
rarity: epic
visual:
  type: vanilla
  entity: FOX
stats:
  power: 12000
  coins: 900
abilities:
  - type: ON_KILL_BONUS_LOOT
    chance: 18.0
    amount: 40
```

Stats allowed by rarity: `power` for all, `coins` from **epic**, `essence` from **mythical**. Anything else is removed at load with a console warning. See [Pets](/lethium-docs/gameplay/pets.md).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Choose sensible numbers

Copy the numbers from a pet of the zone you are placing it in. Pets grow about 1.09x per zone so they keep up with mob health. A pet far above its neighbours will break the balance.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Name it

Add `clickem.pets.MyPet_1.name` to `lang/en_us.yml`, or put inline text such as `"<gradient:#ff8800:#ffcc00>Ember Fox"` directly in `display-name`.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Give it a head

Set `visual.entity` to a mob type that already has a head texture in `pets.yml` `visuals.entity-textures`, or set `visual.head-texture` to a base64 value from minecraft-heads.com.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Put it in an egg

Add its id to `loot.pool` of one or more eggs in `eggs.yml`. Its odds inside the pool come from its rarity `egg-weight`.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Link fusion (optional)

Its `fusion-tiers` block gives Golden, Rainbow and Shiny. Add `fusion-recipe` (`result`, `required-count`, `success-chance`) to let three copies fuse into another species.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Reload and test

```
/clickem module reload pets
/clickem module reload eggs
/ceadmin pet grant <you> MyPet_1
```

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Sets and limits

* **Set bonuses:** add the id to a `set-bonuses` entry in `pets.yml`.
* **Never equipped together:** `blacklist-groups` in `pets.yml`.
* **Starter pet:** `starter-pet` in `pets.yml`.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://lethium.gitbook.io/lethium-docs/how-to/add-a-pet.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
