# Skills

Skills that level by playing, focus, perks and prestige.

File: `plugins/ClickEmCore/modules/skills.yml`. Module id: `skills`. Commands: `/skills`, `/skill`.

Skills level up by **playing**, not by spending. (Spending is what [Artifacts](/lethium-docs/gameplay/artifacts.md) and [Upgrades](/lethium-docs/gameplay/upgrades.md) are for.)

| Skill | Trigger (what gives it XP) |

| Key                      | Meaning                                                                                                                                                             |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `trigger`                | `ON_CRIT`, `ON_DAMAGE_TAKEN`, `ON_HIT`, `ON_HIT_CHANCE`, `ON_WALK`, `ON_KILL`, or `DERIVED_FROM_OTHERS`.                                                            |
| `xp-amount`              | XP per trigger (per block walked for `ON_WALK`).                                                                                                                    |
| `xp-chance`              | Chance for `ON_HIT_CHANCE`.                                                                                                                                         |
| `xp-curve`               | `base-xp x growth^level` XP to level up.                                                                                                                            |
| `max-level`              | Highest level.                                                                                                                                                      |
| `stats`                  | The skill's effect **at max level**, growing steadily from 0 at level 0.                                                                                            |
| `zone-gates` | Limits how far a skill can go until a zone is unlocked, like upgrades. |
| `perk-interval-levels` | Every N levels the player picks ONE permanent perk from `perk-options`. The same options are offered each time, so a player can stack one choice or mix. `0` = off. |
| `prestige-bonus-percent` | At max level the player can reset the skill to 0 for a permanent bonus worth this percent of `stats`. **Risky**: prestiging one skill temporarily lowers Lifesteal. |

### Global settings

| Key                             | Default | Meaning                                                                                                      |
| ------------------------------- | ------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| `auto-attack-xp-multiplier`     | 0.1     | Fraction of click-triggered XP that auto-attack gives. Stops idle farming. `1.0` = no penalty. `0.0` = none. |
| `focus.bonus-multiplier` | 2.0 | The skill a player sets as **Focus** earns XP at this rate. |
| `focus.other-multiplier`        | 0.7     | Every other skill earns at this rate.                                                                        |
| `focus.switch-cooldown-seconds` | 300     | Time between focus changes.                                                                                  |

VIP ranks add `skill-xp-bonus-percent`.

### How to

* **Level skills faster:** raise `xp-amount`, or lower `xp-curve.growth`.
* **Give a skill more power:** raise `stats`.
* **Add a perk option:** add an entry under `perk-options` and its name to `lang/en_us.yml`.
* **Turn perks off:** set `perk-interval-levels: 0` on the skill.

### Staff commands

`/ceadmin skills set <player> <skill> <level> [xp]`, `/ceadmin skills reset <player> [skill]`.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://lethium.gitbook.io/lethium-docs/gameplay/skills.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
