# Abilities

Fury-fuelled spells: slots, gestures, effect types, leveling with Essence, visuals and passives.

File: `plugins/ClickEmCore/modules/ability.yml`. Skills for visuals: `plugins/MythicMobs/skills/ClickEm_Abilities.yml`. Module id: `ability`. Commands: `/ability`, `/abilities`.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Quick start**

* Change a gesture: `input:` in `ability.yml`.
* Make an ability cheaper or stronger: `base-cost`, `base-multiplier`, `max-multiplier`.
* Turn off Mythic visuals: `mythic-vfx.enabled: false`.
* Give a level: `/ceadmin ability set <player> <ability> <level>`.
  {% endhint %}

Abilities are **spells cast during fights**. Each player has:

* **two Active slots** and **one Ultimate**, cast with a gesture;
* **two Passive slots**, which trigger on their own when the player hits, crits, kills or takes damage.

There are **51 abilities** across the five worlds.

### Casting

| Slot     | Default gesture                  |
| -------- | -------------------------------- |
| Active 1 | Shift + left click               |
| Active 2 | Shift + right click              |
| Ultimate | Double-tap sneak (within 400 ms) |

Every slot can also be cast with `/ability cast <slot>` (`active-1`, `active-2`, `ultimate`). Set a gesture to `NONE` to disable it. Shift + left click still lands the normal attack. Shift + right click is blocked from placing blocks or opening containers.

```yaml
input:
  active-1: SHIFT_LEFT_CLICK
  active-2: SHIFT_RIGHT_CLICK
  ultimate: DOUBLE_SNEAK
  double-sneak-window-ms: 400
  require-zone: true
```

`require-zone: true` only lets abilities cast inside a zone (boss arenas count, and so does fighting a mob or having a boss within about 48 blocks), so sneaking around the hub never fires anything.

### Fury

Casting spends **Fury**, the click-charge meter from [Combat](/lethium-docs/gameplay/combat-and-rewards.md). Only manual clicks build it, so an AFK auto-attacker can never cast. `fury-cost` is a fraction of the bar: `0.25` is a quarter (about 10 hits at default settings), `1.0` is a full bar (about 40).

### Damage

Every damaging effect is a multiple of **one normal hit**, rising from `base-multiplier` at level 1 to `max-multiplier` at max level. It runs through the normal damage calculation (Power, crits, boss damage, element matchups), so abilities keep pace with gear, pets and Echoes on their own.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Keep `max-multiplier` at about 10 or below for a tier 1 ability. A typo here is multiplied by everything else.
{% endhint %}

### Learning and levelling

* Abilities are learned and levelled with **Artifact Essence**. A level costs `base-cost x cost-growth^level`.
* `required-zone` (unlocked, not standing in) and `required-level` (Profile Level) are optional gates.
* In `/ability`: left click learns or levels up, right click selects, then click a loadout slot. Shift-click resets for a partial refund (`respec-refund-percent: 50`).
* New players get a free `starter-ability: cleave`, learned and equipped once.

| Key           | Meaning                                                                                   |
| ------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `slot-kind`   | `ACTIVE`, `ULTIMATE` or `PASSIVE`.                                                        |
| `trigger`     | `MANUAL` for casts. Passives: `ON_HIT`, `ON_CRIT`, `ON_KILL`, `ON_DAMAGE_TAKEN`.          |
| `proc-chance` | Passive chance in percent.                                                                |
| `world` | 1 to 5, for the menu's World filter. Set it for abilities gated by level instead of zone. |

### Effect types

| Type             | What it does                                                                                                                                                |
| ---------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `STRIKE`         | Hits the target.                                                                                                                                            |
| `AOE`            | Same hit on every mob within `radius`, up to `max-targets`.                                                                                                 |
| `CHAIN` | Hits the target and jumps `chain-count` times to the nearest unhit mob within `radius`, losing `chain-decay` each jump. |
| `BEAM`           | A piercing line, up to `radius` and `max-targets`.                                                                                                          |
| `NOVA`           | A wave spreading to `radius` over `duration-seconds`.                                                                                                       |
| `BARRAGE`        | `chain-count + 1` rapid hits, `interval-ticks` apart.                                                                                                       |
| `BURN`           | A hit every `interval-ticks` for `duration-seconds`. `radius: 0` burns only the target.                                                                     |
| `BUFF` | Temporary stats for `duration-seconds` (`stats:` uses the normal [stat keys](/lethium-docs/configuration/stats-and-limits.md)). Casting again refreshes it. |
| `HEAL`           | Restores a percent of max health.                                                                                                                           |
| `SHIELD`         | Absorption hearts worth a percent of max health.                                                                                                            |
| `STORM`          | Meteors fall on mobs within `radius` for `duration-seconds`.                                                                                                |
| `CURRENCY_BURST` | Instantly pays Coins (units scaled by progress). |

### Visuals

Abilities are drawn by generated **MythicMobs skills** named `CE_<ability>_Cast`, `_Hit` and `_Charge`, in `ClickEm_Abilities.yml`. The effect is purely cosmetic.

| Key                       | Meaning                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      |
| ------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `mythic-vfx.enabled`      | `false` = always use the built-in particles.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 |
| `mythic-vfx.keep-builtin` | Also draw the built-in particles under each Mythic skill. Turn it off once the Mythic visuals look right. |
| `vfx.style`               | `SWEEP`, `SURGE`, `LIGHTNING`, `REAPER`, `BEAM`, `NOVA`, `BARRAGE`, `QUAKE`, `INFERNO`, `AEGIS`, `SIPHON`, `WILDFIRE`, `METEOR`, `OVERDRIVE`, `SINGULARITY`, `JUDGMENT`, `EMBER`, `WINDFALL`, `BULWARK`, `VORTEX`, `RUNE`, `PRISM`, `CRESCENT`, `ABYSS`, `STARFALL`, `NONE`. |
| `vfx.cinematic` | (Ultimates only) launches the caster into the air, charges, fires, then drops them with a landing shockwave. `lift`, `hold-ticks`. |

If a Mythic skill is missing, the built-in particles are used, so an ability is never invisible. Players' **Particles** and **Sounds** toggles in `/settings` are respected.

### Ratings

Each ability shows a grade (F to SSS) for **Damage** and **Look**. Damage is calculated automatically from the effects at max level. Look is set by `vfx.look-rating`. The headline grade is 60% Damage and 40% Look. `rating.damage-thresholds` are the seven cut points.

### Other settings

| Key                                   | Meaning                                                                                |
| ------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `passive.auto-attack-proc-multiplier` | Passives from auto-attack hits get only this fraction of their chance (0.1). |
| `hud.interval-ticks` | Refresh rate of the action-bar cooldown HUD. Players turn it on or off in `/settings`. |
| `respec-refund-percent`               | Essence refund on reset.                                                               |

### How to

* **Change an ability's power:** edit `base-multiplier` and `max-multiplier`.
* **Change a gesture:** edit `input`.
* **Change an ability's colours or particle style:** edit its `vfx` block.

### Staff commands

`/ceadmin ability set <player> <ability> <level>`, `/ceadmin ability reset <player> [ability]`.

### Placeholders

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://lethium.gitbook.io/lethium-docs/gameplay/abilities.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
